What exactly is a blog? Is it a zine-ish web page? Is it a means of collecting evidence for blackmail? Is it an annoying fad? For me, I don’t think it’s always the same thing. Often it’s a (hopefully) humorous diary of goings on in my life. Sometimes it’s a way for me to do some web development outside of work. And occassionally it’s completely just for my benefit.

A few people that are close to me were upset that something as important to me as my mom having more surgery next month was posted here before I ever talked to them about it. And I can understand their anger. I guess. But maybe they are angry because they think this blog is something that it isn’t. Or I am something that I’m not. I’m an only child, a New Yorker, and I was raised by a single Caribbean parent. Doesn’t exactly make me the most expressive person ever. I really don’t want to harp on this, but just want to end with that it’s really easy to write someone off when they do something you don’t understand. It actually takes work to understand where they’re coming from.
