School Pride?

At the game on Monday, I was met with incredulity when I mentioned that MIT had a Fight Song. I was met with laughter when I mentioned that I thought I remembered “3.14159” somehow being involved. I couldn’t (embarassingly) remember it, but a couple Google searches later, I now provide it for your…um…pleasure. And yes—this is our actual fight song.

“You’re a beaver. I’m a beaver. We are beavers all!
And when we get together, we do the beaver call!

E to the u du dx, E to the x, dx!
Cosine, secant, tangent, sine, 3.14159!
Integral, radical, mu, dv,
Slipstick, sliderule, MIT!
Go Tech!”

  1. Oh my God. You really ARE a geek.
And I say that with so much awe.
    What is a slipstick? Sounds…dirty.

  3. Doesn’t it? I have no idea what it is! Maybe that’s taught in the spring term of senior year…

  7. I have to agree, that really is the best fight song I’ve ever read. I must admit that my desire to attend MIT was never really that strong, but now I really wish that I were a beaver, too. My school’s fight song is just so… boring.

  9. haha… we’d sing this before every crew race my freshman year. Fun for us, but not the best way to intimidate your competition.

  11. and that’s another thing that didn’t make any sense. just about every team we had was division IIIAA, but we were always nationally ranked in crew.
